This past week, I launched a 21-Day Rejuvenation Cleanse with my colleague and fellow nutritionist, Coreen Reinhart. I wanted to share a little bit more detail about our cleanse so that you can decide if this is something that will enhance your health & wellness. We currently have 18 women signed up for the cleanse! The best part is that we get to meet with these women in a group-setting through out the cleanse to share experiences and to provide additional nutrition education.

When most people hear the word  “detox” or “cleanse” some common words that come to mind are “hungry” “extreme” “starvation.” Our goal is to change the way that you view cleansing. We are passionate about teaching you a different way to cleanse and a healthier way to cleanse than juice cleansing and liquid cleansing.

There are 2 goals for the 21-Day Rejuvenation cleanse:
1. Rejuvenate energy
2. Enhance weight loss

Unlike other cleanses, our goal is not “rapid weight loss.” You will lose some weight on the cleanse but our goal is to provide education on how to maintain sustainable weight loss after the cleanse. Don’t worry, this is not a 21-day liquid cleanse. We will be incorporating soups, salads, healthy fats, protein, and of course plenty of vegetables.

The nutrition aspect of this cleanse is primarily an “elimination diet.” During the cleanse, we remove common food sensitivities and add in anti-inflammatory healing foods. This allows your organs and digestive system time to rest and heal. It also helps to pinpoint what foods might be contributing to your chronic symptoms.

Some symptoms that can be linked to food sensitivities include:
– Digestive issues: IBS, IBD, gas, bloating, constipation, diarrhea
– Skin conditions: eczema, psoriasis etc.
– Headaches
– Leaky-gut/ intestinal permeability
– Auto-immune conditions
– Difficulty losing weight
– Joint pain
– Food cravings
– Low energy, brain fog
– Trouble sleeping
– Mucus, itchy throat, congestion

As you can see, there are many symptoms that can be relieved by identifying food sensitivities.

Here are some of the foods that you will be eliminating during our cleanse:
1. coffee
2. alcohol
3. sugar
4. gluten
5. dairy

We will be adding in some healing/ anti-inflammatory foods such as:
1. Ginger
2. Bone broths
3. Lemon
4. Garlic
5. Cinnamon

There will also be 4 supplements provided to you at the beginning of the cleanse. We chose powder supplements because they are more bio-available (more easily absorbed) by the body than capsules. The supplements are designed to enhance the detoxification process and to provide a more alkalinizing affect throughout the cleanse. They are also designed to enhance gut health and your immune system.

The last thing that I would like to share with you as part of the introduction to our cleanse is that cleansing is far more than just about the foods that we eat and the supplements that we take. During this cleanse you will be prompted to practice stress-reduction techniques and to connect with your mental/emotional and spiritual well-being. Remember that our thoughts can be just as toxic for the body as the foods that we eat.

And, of course… Recipes will be provided.
